Over 15 years at MobileIron, SOTI, Automox, Addigy, Scalefusion, and Apple, he built device management systems from the ground up, including contributions to Apple’s core MDM platforms and zero-touch enrollment at scale.

Each company was different. The challenge was always the same:

MDM is essential infrastructure, but every platform rebuilds it from scratch. Hundreds of policies. Constant OS changes. Security requirements. Compliance demands. Months of engineering before customers see value.

After six full cycles, Preetham asked:

“Why are we all building the same thing?”

Instead of building one more MDM product, he set out to build the platform the industry could use as infrastructure.

In 1998, he founded Forget Computers, one of the first Apple-focused MSPs, later acquired by Ntiva. While supporting enterprise and creative teams, he built tools that worked around MDM limitations:

• Vision-Bot: web dashboard integrating Jamf, Addigy, Zendesk
• SupportMenu: macOS support request tool
• Robot Cloud: the first cloud-hosted Jamf environment

When he encountered Smplify, the concept clicked:

“Robot Cloud was built on the idea that teams shouldn’t reinvent infrastructure. Smplify completes that vision.”
