Smplify raises $1M to move device management beyond the admin console

Smplify lets people, scripts, and AI agents manage Apple, Windows, and Linux fleets, with built-in approvals and a record of every change.

Today we’re announcing $1M in pre-seed funding led by Golden Ventures, with participation from Aviso Ventures.

Our CEO, Preetham Gurram, has built device management six times: at MobileIron, SOTI, Automox, Addigy, Scalefusion, and Apple, where he contributed to Apple’s core MDM platforms and zero-touch enrollment at scale.

Every company was different, but the work was the same: hundreds of policies, constant OS changes, security and compliance demands, and months of engineering before customers saw any value. After the sixth time, he asked, “Why are we all building the same thing?”

Our COO, Ben Greiner, saw the same problem from the customer’s side. He built and ran an Apple-focused MSP for 20+ years and knows how hard it is for MSPs of every size to deliver on the promise of device management.

Smplify is what Preetham and Ben both wished existed: device management that keeps every device the way you intended, whether you work through a console, a script, or an AI agent.

Everything Smplify does is available through the API and CLI, so device management becomes a step inside tools you already run: CI pipelines, onboarding scripts, incident playbooks.

You don’t need deep device-management expertise to start: the optional console and ready-made security baselines get you running without writing policies from scratch.

You can also manage devices through AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, using our CLI or MCP endpoint. Admin-configured Approval Gates decide which actions need a person’s sign-off, and every action is recorded.

“IT is going through the same shift security went through a decade ago: AI agents are taking on real work faster than controls can keep up. In security, the automation that held up had a person sign off before anything risky shipped. Smplify brings that guardrail to every device change, whether a person, a script, or an agent makes it, and keeps a record of why it happened.”

Platforms, MSPs, and IT teams describe what should be true of their devices, and Smplify keeps it true across Apple, Windows, and Linux, with Android in progress. One API, one policy model. We call it the last-mile control plane: the policy and approval layer between intent and the device.

In practice, that means no more chasing drift. If you’ve run a device management platform, you know the pattern: weeks of configuration, then finding out that something you were sure was enforced isn’t.

With Smplify, IT teams and MSPs set their intent, and Smplify continuously checks every device against it and corrects drift. Each client, department, or location gets its own isolated tenant with role-based access control, and super-admins see every tenant in one place. That’s how a small team can run a large fleet without adding headcount.

Platforms get the same engine through our API and can ship it under their own name with Brand Kit, so their customers see their product, not ours, all the way down to the API.

We showed AI-driven device management live at NIST’s mSCP Developer Day, with an AI agent running macOS compliance workflows through Smplify. See the mSCP demo.

Illustrative Smplify agent console after a run. One disk-encryption intent is compiled for macOS, Windows and Linux; the plan finds 37 drifted devices; the change waits at an approval gate until admin@example.com approves it, then applies to 22 Macs, 11 Windows PCs and 4 Linux machines. All 37 are shown as enforced, with evidence written to the audit log.
    Illustrative example.

The funding will grow our engineering team and accelerate the path to our SOC 2 audit, general availability, and an expanded group of early customers.

“As AI agents take on more enterprise operations, every change to a device must be governed, executed safely, and verified. We backed Preetham, Ben, and the Smplify team because their combined experience building device management platforms and running customer fleets gives them a distinct foundation. They’re uniquely positioned to build the ‘last-mile control plane’: the trusted boundary between autonomous decisions and real-world execution.”
